What is the function of the mechanical and centrifugal feeders?

Mechanical and Centrifugal Feeders have the same function as Vibratory Bowl Feeders, i.e. to create a flow of correctly positioned parts supplied at a specific rate but basing its driving force on the action of an electric motor, usually a 3-phase that, through a combination of gears (reducer) transmits a rotational force to the specific item (plate) whose mission is to select and guide the parts prepared in bulk on said plate.

The operational system is based on the actuation of a flat or conic rotating disc. The parts turn with the disc and, thanks to the centrifugal force, they move towards the outer edge of the disc reaching the appropriate selectors for each purpose in order to only allow through the parts that are in the selected position for their evacuation.

Mechanical bowl feeder models

We have several models according to the rate requirements, the number of parts to be fed and their shape: the diameters of the receptacles ranges from 400 mm to 1,200 mm and the advancing speed can be between 25 and 60 m/min; therefore, high flow rates can be obtained for lightweight and revolving parts, allowing, within certain shapes, to achieve delivery rates of up to 25,000 parts per hour.

Its positioning reliability is ideal for discs, caps, lids and any revolving part that is not tempered.


These equipment units are normally installed in facilities within the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, packaging and bottling industries which, due to their technological advances and market requirements, have developed their machines seeking maximum production.

However, it should be taken into account that all the elements used in order for the parts to be guided in a specific manner enter into contact with the parts, hence this modality may have some disadvantages, especially for parts that require delicate handling or which are susceptible to tempering through friction.

Characteristics of the centrifugal feeders and mechanical feeders

With regards to the features and characteristics of our mechanical feeders, we highlight the following:

  • Productions that can range between 20,000 and 25,000 parts/hour.
  • Manufacturing in stainless steel, aluminium and polyethylene (PE).
  • High flexibility in the format changes.
  • Low maintenance and wear.
  • Possibility of manufacturing in clockwise or counter-clockwise rotation direction.
  • Motorisation with 0.18 Kw power, and 230/380/425 VAC 50/60 Hz.
  • Reducer with torque limiter.
  • Mechanical speed variator.
  • Work characteristic at temperatures between 5 and 50°C.
  • Complying with EC regulations.

Uses of mechanical feeders

The use of a Centrifugal and Mechanical Feeder is ideal for simple parts and where the primary purpose is to achieve a high feeding rate. The unit can be fitted with accessories to meet the specific needs of each user or it can be supplied without accessories.
